3D Viewer

Free browser-based viewer for 3D model files with interactive model slicing

01

Problem

Viewing 3D models typically requires expensive desktop software, CAD packages, dedicated viewers or plugin-heavy tools that demand installation and licences. Sharing a model with a colleague or client means either sending a raw file they can't open or scheduling a screen-share just to look at geometry.

02

Approach

3D Viewer is a free, zero-install web application that runs entirely in the browser. Upload or drag-and-drop a model file in any of the following 3D neutral formats, GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, USDZ or STL and it renders immediately using Three.js and WebGL. A built-in slicing function lets you cut through any axis of the model to expose internal geometry, useful for reviewing internal components, clearances, and assemblies without modifying the source file.

03

Result

Anyone with a browser can open, orbit and inspect a 3D model in seconds, no software, no licence, no setup. The slicing tool makes it genuinely useful for engineering review, not just casual viewing, allowing selective visibility into complex assemblies that would otherwise require dedicated desktop tools to interrogate.
